Urgent: As of December 2020, only 58% of requested funding under the UN Humanitarian Response Plan in Yemen was delivered due to lack of funding. Paired with ongoing conflict -and our current uncertain times, “Yemen is ranked among the worst humanitarian crises to watch in 2021” (UNHCR). The people of Yemen need our help NOW more than ever.

Yemeni Families are Struggling to Survive

• An estimated 13.5 million people in Yemen are in food crisis, which is expected to rise to 16.2 million in the first half of 2021 (UNCHR, 2021)
• ​Over 2.25 million Yemeni children aged 0 to 59 months, and more than a million cases of pregnant women, are projected to suffer from acute malnutrition in 2021. (UNCHR, 2021)
• 2 out of 3 displaced Yemenis live in districts categorized as emergency food insecure (IPC4+) -making them four times more likely to experience hunger, (UNHCR, 2021)

The conditions are horrible in Yemen, but they’re not much better in surrounding areas – in fact, over 250,000 people have sought refuge in Yemen.

People are calling this the worst humanitarian crisis in human history. It’s becoming the worst famine in 100 years.

Yemen was already suffering before the pandemic.

And now? It’s worse than ever.

When the infectious disease was declared a pandemic, experts worried about it reaching Yemen, knowing that it would spread like wildfire through the refugee camps.

A nation with 20 million food insecure, how would they ever protect themselves if they can’t even fill their stomachs with food?

The first case hit Yemen on April 10. Organizations called the news a “devastating blow” and a “nightmare scenario” given the country’s already dire humanitarian situation.

And it is a nightmare – as more cities and provinces in Yemen report new cases daily.

The worst part? RELIEF MONEY IS RUNNING OUT.

According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), “lack of funding remain a significant challenge, disrupting life-saving response to the plight of millions of Yemenis.” (2021).

In 2020 alone, there were over 4,200 incidents of restricted access to funding which resulted in the disruption of life-saving aid to 7.8 MILLION Yemenis in need.

The people of Yemen need you now more than ever before.

Over the last two years, our partners have invested $473,027.85 in Yemen -aiming to help as many people as we can. Your generous donations have helped:
